Drivers in Bettendorf will see some changes to the area as crews construct three turn lanes at various intersections.

The work was set to begin Monday, April 21, 2014 and continue into June.

Crews planned to make a left turn lane on Tech Drive where it intersects with 18th Street. The roadway will be widened 5.5 feet on each side to make room for the change. Crews were also planning to reconstruct sidewalk and access ramps on the two corners.

Throughout the majority of the construction, two-way travel will continue,  but the lanes will get thinner. Flaggers may be on site for some work that may cause traffic to be brought down to one-lane.

“The widening on the south side of the street will be constructed in stages to allow one-way alternating traffic into the Family Video Store parking lot,” said a spokesperson from the Bettendorf Public Works Department.

Eastbound traffic turning north from 53rd Avenue onto North Ridge Circle will be getting a left turn lane. Another left turn lane was to be constructed on 53rd Ave. for drivers turning north onto Beaver Meadows Lane, which connects to a subdivision that is reportedly under development, just east of Devils Glen Road. Traffic will get down to one lane during the construction.
