Open burning bans in effect for some areas

Milan issued an open burning ban in effect until further notice. Some Iowa counties were also under burn bans.

Open burning bans are in effect in areas near the QC.

At 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, the Milan Police Department declared a burn ban effective immediately. All of Black Hawk’s Fire District was included in the ban, which was in effect until further notice.

Des Moines County and Lee County in Iowa were both under open burning bans. Click here to see all burn bans in Iowa.

Fire crews responded to a brush fire on Saturday that took roughly three hours to control, according to the Milan Fire Chief. There were no known injuries.
