Police were looking for an inmate who they say escaped while being transported to another facility.

According to a report by KCRG, 37-year-old Kenny Bevard escaped near a Menards store in Clive, Iowa, just west of Des Moines on Thursday, April 17, 2014.

The inmate reportedly stole a van at a truck stop there. The van was later found in Urbandale. Police had issued a Code Red alert for the neighboring area early Thursday evening.

Bevard is described as a white man, 6-feet 1-inch tall, bald, and has tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a white and green jumpsuit and may have had a black sweatshirt, according to KCRG. Police said he is considered dangerous.

A report by KCCI said on Friday, police said they believed he had help in his escape and was no longer believed to be in the Urbandale area.

Police ask anyone who may see him to not approach him and call 911. Police are also asking the public to report any suspicious activity.
