Two years after her husband drowned while he was attacked by a swan, an Illinois woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man’s employer.
Anthony Hensley worked for a company that places swans to keep geese away from community ponds in suburban Chicago.
Hensley was working at a condominium complex in April 2012 when the kayak he was using apparently got too close to a swan or its nest. A swan attacked, knocking him out of his kayak, and the attack continued after he fell into the water.
Hensley, 37, drowned. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death an accidental drowning.
Hensley’s wife was suing his employer and the condo complex, saying they should have known the swans are territorial with a propensity to attack, according to our sister station WGN-TV.
