Pier 1 has recalled about 11,000 glass star-shaped lanterns because parts can melt and start a fire.

The glass and metal hanging lanterns hold tea light candles.

“Pier 1 Imports has received five reports of the solder melting on the lanters,” said a recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “including one report of the lantern falling apart and burning a rug.”

The recalled lanterns are seven inches wide, seven inches high and seven inches deep.  They are made of gold-toned metal and colored amber, clear and red glass.  SKU numbers on the recalled lanterns are SKU 2717349, 2717351 and 2724169.  They were sold between August 2013 and February 2014 at Pier 1 stores and at pier1.com for $16 to $20.

If you have the recalled lanterns, stop using them immediately and return them to any Pier 1 Imports store for a full refund or store credit.
