A week after it was issued, authorities lifted their ban on open burning in Scott County, Iowa.

Open burning is prohibited when conditions are extremely dry and the risk is high for fires to get out of control.  That high risk prompted a burn ban in Scott County issued Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

The Scott County ban was to be lifted at noon, Wednesday, April 16, 2014.  A burn ban in Jackson County, Iowa was also lifted at that same time.
