A Peoria man, whose love song for his wife melted the hearts of thousands, met some local middle school students who have actually become part of his story.
In 2013, a recording studio, Green Shoe Studio, received an entry from 96-year-old Fred Stobaugh in a singer/song writer contest. Included in his entry was a letter about how Stobaugh’s wife had passed away earlier that year after nearly 73 years of marriage.
Touched by his story, the recording studio decided to professionally record his song and make a documentary about his story.

Fast forward to Wednesday, April 16, 2014 when Stobaugh and the Green Shoe Studio production team traveled to Moline to meet some of the song writer’s biggest fans from Wilson Middle School. Students there were so touched by his story that they wrote personal letters to Stobaugh which they got to share with him during his visit.
The song has impacted so many people that the production team decided to shoot part two of the documentary which focuses on how Stobaugh’s song and story have affected people across the world. Wednesday’s visit in Moline was set to be part of that second documentary.
