Young piano players make music for charity

Hundreds of piano players made music in Davenport for a good cause.

Hundreds of piano players made music in Davenport for a good cause.

The annual Piano Celebration was held at NorthPark Mall on Sunday, April 13, 2014. The musicians played for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City, which runs solely on donations.

“About half of the money that’s raised is by these kids,” said Piano for Richer Life spokesman Jim Foster. “So in effect, this is the first civic lesson for a lot of these young people. They go around with their parents in their neighborhood. They get to tell their neighbors what Ronald McDonald House is all about. It’s nothing to do with hamburgers. It’s about kids helping kids.”

Over the last decade the Piano Celebration has raised $320,000 for the charity.
