Tracking his cell phone may have helped save a 60-year-old Des Moines man who called 911 after he was stuffed into the trunk of a car.
Police said Ronald Carris was kidnapped and stuffed into the trunk of a black Chevrolet Impala in Des Moines on Friday morning, April 11, 2014. Carris called 911, saying he didn’t know where he was being taken, just before 6 a.m.
Via his cell phone carrier, police traced Carris’ cell phone to Prospect Park in Des Moines according to KCCI-TV. Officers arrived to find the car with a shattered window, and they found Carris nearby.
Carris was unresponsive and bleeding from his head when he was found. He had been beaten with a brick according to the Des Moines Register.
Carris was hospitalized and reportedly in critical condition.
A woman, who was in the park when Carris was found, was taken into police custody for questioning.
