Clinton, Iowa stops Saturday garbage collection

When your trash day and a holiday happen on a Friday in Clinton, you’ll now put trash out a day earlier instead of a day later.

When holidays delay trash collection day, that used to push Friday trash collection to Saturdays in Clinton, Iowa – but, not any more.

City officials announced garbage collection will no longer happen on Saturdays in Clinton.

Instead, trash collection will only happen Monday through Friday.  Collection will happen a day earlier, rather than a day later, when a holiday happens on a Friday in Clinton.

“Good Friday is April 18th, which is a holiday for Public Works employees, so there will be no solid waste/recycling collection on that day,” said a notice from the Clinton Public Works Department.  “Thursday and Friday’s routes will be collected on Thursday, April 17th.”

The same collection days would apply to any other week in which a holiday falls on a Friday.  When a holiday falls on any other day of the week, Monday through Thursday, collection would be delayed one day.
