The same day an updated flyer was released in the search for Carrie Olson, police were investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in Minnesota.
Carrie Olson, 29, of Davenport, Iowa, was last seen December 28, 2013 at a gas station in Rock Island, Illinois. Her car, a dark gray Toyota Avalon, was seen the next day at that same gas station, but only her boyfriend, Tim McVay, was with the car then.
McVay returned Olson’s car several days later, but there has been no sign of Carrie Olson since then. Her phone, laptop and wallet were missing.
Carrie Olson was described as 5-feet 8-inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with sandy brown hair and a “scroll” tattoo across her lower back.
A landowner found the body of an adult woman at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in a wooded area in rural Dakota County, Minnesota. The body had been there less than 36 hours according to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office.
The body was believed to be a woman in her late twenties to early thirties, between 5-feet 6-inches and 5-feet 8-inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds according to information posted online by the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office. She has “vibrant white teeth” and reddish hair with blonde highlights. The woman has a vine-shaped tattoo in blue ink across her lower back. The woman was wearing silver earrings in the shape of starfish.
A spokesman for Davenport Police confirmed their department was aware of the discovery and had been in contact with Dakota County authorities, but he declined to provide any details about that contact.
The woman’s cause of death remained under investigation.
