A couple of Quad City volunteers want to make sure those in tornado-damaged Washington, Illinois are not forgotten.

On Sunday, April 6th, 2014, QC Cares - a non-profit organization created soon after the tornado touched down - traveled to Washington to meet with other volunteers who are cleaning up debris left from the November 17th, 2013 tornado.

"It has been a little while," says Sara Sparrowgrove, Organizer. "It was so close to home. It could have been us. I think that if it was us we would want somebody to come and help us as well. It was just too close to home to not go down and help."

Sparrowgrove says there is still a lot to do in Washington, especially because the tornado hit right before winter.

"When we went down there the first time, we were pretty much picking up frozen pieces of clothing and everything was just so cold and then it started snowing pretty much right after so they didn't really get much done."

Sparrowgrove says QC Cares will have more outreach trips in the future. For updates and pictures from today's efforts, click here.
