The first round of job listings for positions at Thomson Correctional Center has been posted.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons listed 15 positions at the facility on the website. Salaries for the first posted positions range from nearly $50,000 to more than $107,000 per year.

Available positions at the Thomson location are mostly managerial and include human resources, accounting and technology positions as well as correctional supervisors.

An potential 1,100 workers were expected to be hired for the facility. Thomson Correctional Center will have capacity to hold 1,600 inmates.

It passed out of committee but the fiscal year 2014 funding has not been fully approved yet for Thomson; but $53 million has been promised to get the facility renovations complete and activated.  Ten-million was designated for renovations and the rest was targeted for staffing and equipment purchases and upgrades according to U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL).

The facility was built in 2001 and has yet to be operational.
