Child pornography arrest made at Milan day care

Local and federal authorities arrested a 28-year-old Milan man accused of possession of child pornography at a day care address.

Local and federal authorities arrested a 28-year-old Milan man accused of possession of child pornography at a day care address.

Police from Moline and Milan police departments, along with the Bureau County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Secret Service, searched the Milan home of Leonard Fite Friday, March 21, 2014 according to a statement from Moline Police.

That search led them to arrest Fite and charge him with possession of child pornography.

Court records show Fite was charged in Rock Island County with one count of producing child pornography with intent to sell and two counts of producing child pornography involving a victim under the age of 13.

Police confirmed a day care is also located at Fite's home address.  Online records indicate it is a licensed day care with a capacity to care for up to seven children between 0 and 12 years of age.

Moline Police Lt. John Hitchcock said the state Department of Children and Family Services was investigating whether there was any connection between Fite's alleged activity and the day care.

A DCFS representative confirmed the day care license has been suspended indefinitely.  The day care operator's own kids and "several others" were at the home day care when investigators visited the home.

Court records indicate Fite first appeared in Rock Island County Court the day after his arrest.  He was next due to appear in court in May 2014.

Fite remained held in the Rock Island County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
