Sterling hit-and-run remains unsolved after victim identified

Police were still searching for a suspect after a family member identified the victim of an apparent hit-and-run crash in Sterling, Illinois.

A family member identified a man who was in critical condition after an apparent hit-and-run crash in Sterling, Illinois.

A 20-year-old man was unresponsive when he was found in the 300 block of West 5th Street just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Police appealed to the public to help identify the man, who was hospitalized in critical condition.

Later that same day, a family member identified the man as Jacob Carr of Sterling.

Investigators said Carr had been the victim of a hit-and run.

Carr remained hospitalized in critical condition in an intensive care unit at an area hospital.
