The Quad City River Bandits' opening day game was scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3rd, 2014.

Despite the brutal winter and early morning rain, the field is in good condition for Thursday's game. Bandits new General Manager Andrew Chesser says the grounds crew worked very hard before the winter set in to make sure the field would be in good condition.

There is also a new addition to the ballpark for 2014. The ferris wheel that is going up behind the left field wall should be complete by May.

"We understand that not everyone is a die hard baseball fan," Chesser said. "We want to give fans and families a reason to come out, even if they're not interested in the baseball game."

The Bandits take on the Kane County Cougars Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All four games are at home. Thursday's game starts at 7 p.m. weather permitting. To see more on how individual players are preparing for the early season games, click here.
