Author Nicholas Sparks was is the Quad Cities visiting with Genesis patients.

Sparks went to Genesis in Davenport on Friday, March 28, 2014 to talk with patients about coping with their various medical conditions. During his visit he autographed journals and books for them.

“Every time I hang out with my friends, we’ll be like “let’s watch the Notebook” or “Let’s watch Safe Haven” or whatever,” said Molly Seybert, a patient at Genesis. “It’s just really cool to meet him.”

Also on Sparks’ agenda was to speak at a Gilda’s Club benefit Friday.

The author known for writing love stories admits his books don’t always have happy endings and his characters aren’t perfect, but that’s what makes them relatable.

“I love that baggagestuff, everyone has it,” Sparks said. “I really focus hard on making the characters feel real. I try to give them a voice that’s unique and people can relate to.”

He was working on another novel set to be released in the fall.
