Car burglars strike several times in Mediapolis

The sheriff’s department has taken complaints of multiple motor vehicle burglaries between Friday, March 21 and Monday, March 24, 2014 in Mediapolis.

Recent vehicle break-ins have been reported on and near Main Street in Mediapolis, Iowa.

The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department reported taking complaints of multiple motor vehicle burglaries between Friday, March 21 and Monday, March 24, 2014.

Most of the burglaries were discovered and reported in the early-morning hours.  Purses, wallets, debit cards, checkbooks, cash and other items were reported stolen.

One of the crimes was reported Friday afternoon in the 100 block of Maple in Mediapolis.  An undisclosed amount of cash and change were reportedly stolen.

“Multiple burglaries” of motor vehicles were reported just after 6 a.m. Sunday, March 23 in the 1200 block of Main Street.  Residents reported vehicles had been entered but nothing was reported missing at the time of the report.

Another round of “multiple burglaries” to motor vehicles were reported Monday, March 24 just after 7 a.m.  A purse and multiple wallets were reported missing along with items in them including a driver’s license, debit cards, checkbooks and cash.

Later that same day, a resident reported cash and personal property stolen from a vehicle in the 700 block of Main Street.

Police did not yet say whether they believed the burglaries were the work of the same suspect or suspects.
