A nine-year-old Colorado girl says she was barred from school for violating a dress code rule against shaved heads for girls.

Her mom says the girl’s motive for shaving her head didn’t matter to school administrators.

Kamryn shaved off all her hair in support of her friend, Delaney, who had just begun chemotherapy.

But their school, Caprock Academy in Grand Junction, Colorado, has a dress code policy against shaved heads for girls according to our sister station KDVR.

When Kamryn showed up at school with her head shaved, she was told she could not come back until she got a wig or her natural hair grew back.

Her mother says school administrators initially said they would not make an exception to the dress code for Kamryn.

Administrators later said they would hold an executive session Tuesday, March 25, 2014, to review the policy. Meanwhile, Kamryn was invited to return to school that day.
