Various lanes of River Drive were blocked by wrecked vehicles just east of the Village of East Davenport.

Some roads were slick after overnight snow combined with below-zero temperatures the morning of Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

Davenport Police said they worked a “multiple vehicle” crash, involving injuries, that all began around 8 a.m. that day on E. River Drive at McClellan Blvd. Vehicles collided and smashed into the wall along River Drive.

The location is just east of Lindsay Park, between the Village and I-74.

Motorists were urged to use an alternate route and avoid River Drive between Mound Street and the Bettendorf border during their morning commute.

River Drive was closed to all traffic there for most of the morning.  Westbound lanes were expected to reopen at about 11 a.m.

The last thing we need are more nuisance traffic lights in this city, especially in that area. What we need are people who know how to drive, safely and with common sense.

Agreed. That area does not need a light. Best thing you can do is drive smart. Pay attention to how your vehicle handles on the road, and pay attention to what is happening around you. If you are sliding due to the weather, the best bet is to slow it down, more so when you know a bend is coming up. Better late and safe then late and in the ER.

I don’t think anything else matters other then the fact she was a kid. Who now have grieving parents, family and so many people from schools all over davenport and her own school being effected by this lose. Show some respect.
