Former TV court judge Joe Brown was arrested and charged with contempt after he reportedly lost his cool in a Tennessee courthouse.

Brown was representing someone in a child support case in juvenile court, and reportedly lost his temper when court workers told him they had no record of the case according to our sister station WREG.

Brown reportedly lost control and became verbally abusive, refusing to calm down when warned to do so by the judge.

Juvenile Court Magistrate Harold Horne cited Brown for contempt of court and sentenced him to two days in jail. The sentence was increased to three days in jail when Brown again started yelling as he was being removed from the courtroom.

Brown was given 24 hours in jail for contempt of court, but that increased to five days when he continued to yell as he was being removed from the courtroom saying, “This is a circus sir!”

“That’s three days,” the judge said.

“You can do all you want!” Brown said.

“Four days,” the judge said.

“You don’t have the jurisdiction!” Brown said.

“Five days,” the judge said.

After initially being denied bail, Brown was later released on his own recognizance.

Brown, 66, is running for Shelby County (Tennessee) District Attorney. His television show was cancelled in 2013.
