Rock Island alum plays in NCAA Tournament

A Rock Island alumnus made his way into the 2014 NCAA Tournament, playing for Stanford University.

The 2011 Rock Island High School graduate, Chasson Randle, was playing in the NCAA Tournament against New Mexico on Friday, March 21, 2014. Stanford won 58-53.

Randle was part of Rock Island High School’s first and only state championship-winning basketball team back in 2011. That year the team gained the most wins in school history, 30 that season.

In his athletic career at Rocky, Randle holds 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place for the school’s record of Most Points per Season. He also holds second place for the Average Points. According to Randle’s athletic profile on Stanford’s website, the basketball star was named co- Mr. Basketball in Illinois his senior year in high school and was named Gatorade Illinois Basketball Player of the Year.
