Mallards voted hardest working team in CHL

The work put in by the Quad City Mallards has been noticed by more than just their fans.

The work put in by the Quad City Mallards has been noticed by more than just their fans.

An annual poll conducted by the Central Hockey League showed that the Mallards were named the “Hardest Working Team” in the league.

The team’s coach said what keeps them working hard is the focus at practice and working on things that they know will make them stronger hockey players.

“For us to be successful we have to work hard,” said head coach Terry Ruskowski. “We may not be the most talented team but obviously we work very hard and when you work hard good things happen for us.”

He said there are key points that the team works on, such as passing and defense.

Mallards Forward, Matt Boyd said he attributes the hard working nature of the team to a group that cooperates together.

“I think everyone works together and we feed off each other,” he said. “Everyone wants to do it for each other, so hopefully we can keep on doing that.”

In the poll, Mallards were also mentioned as having one of the best logos. The iWireless Center in Moline made the list as one of the toughest buildings to win in.
