As spring arrived, scouts planned to be out and about feeding the community.

On Saturday, March 22, 2014 boy scouts in the Saukenuk District, which serves the Bureau, Mercer, Henry, and Rock Island County area, planned hold their Scouting for Food Drive. During this time they take cash and food donations from the community for local food pantries.

Some scouts were going door-to-door while others would be at local grocery stores.

In 2013 nearly 300 scouts from various groups collected over 22,000 items and $913 for local pantries.

If you miss the scouts’ collections but would still like to help out, cash donations can be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, Scouting for Food – Food Pantry, 3808 7th Street, East Moline, IL 61244.
