The Rock River near Joslin rose above flood stage, causing minor flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the area until Thursday morning, March 20, 2014.

On Wednesday afternoon the river level was slightly above the 12-foot flood stage. It was forecast to rise to 12.5 feet during the evening, and fall below flood stage Thursday.

“As long as ice is in the river channel, then rapid fluctuations in river levels are possible,” said a spokesperson from the NWS.

At 12 feet, water affects some summer cottages along the river.

Because of ice jams along the Rock River, a flood watch was in effect for Henry County, Rock Island County and Whiteside County through Wednesday evening.
