The Illinois State Police said on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 around 10:30 a.m., 60-year-old Hyman Kite was traveling eastbound on the roadway when the dump trailer he was hauling somehow got upright into the dump position. The vehicle struck an overhead road sign and then the IL Rt. 92 overpass.
Police say Kite suffered minor injuries when he drove off the road to the right, went up and down the embankment and rolled onto the passenger side. He was wearing his seatbelt.
The bridge was inspected and declared safe for use by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Police cited Kite for over height.
