Voters in ten precincts – two in Mercer County and eight in Rock Island County – decided the fate of schools in the Rockridge Community School District.

The district asked voters in the March 18 election to approve issuing nearly $15-million in bonds to pay for a new elementary school, and to make major changes to school transportation including demolition and rebuilding of the bus barn.

Voters in the two Mercer County precincts voted against the measure, casting 42 votes against it and 8 votes in favor of the measure.

With all of Rock Island County’s eight precincts reporting, voters also cast ballots against the measure there.  Sixty-eight percent, or 1,875 votes, were cast against the measure and 31 percent or 843 votes were in favor.
