Bureau County Sheriff primary a near dead-heat

Only eighteen votes separated the top two vote-getters in the race to become the Republican candidate to run for Bureau County Sheriff.

With all 50 precincts reporting, unofficial results showed Allan Beaber won with 1,317 votes.

James Shipp was behind Beaber by only 18 votes, with a total of 1,299 votes.

Alexander Arauza had 591 votes and William Rosenow had 535 votes after ballots were counted from the March 18 election.

The winner will face Democrat Jim Reed, who ran unopposed in the March 18 primary.
