Road work that began in June of 2013 to improve a section of I-74/280 was scheduled to start up again. This will bring traffic down to one lane in each direction.
A spokesperson from the Illinois Department of Transportation said starting Monday, March 17, 2014 crews will get back to work on the 12-mile section of I-74/280 that spans from I-80 to Airport Road.
The $17.7 million project was scheduled to be completed by November. Crews planned to remove and replace the bridges that carry I-74/280 over Coal Creek. Also during this time, resurfacing of the roadway will be completed.
