Runners took to the streets of Davenport for the 32nd annual CASI St. Patrick’s Day race.

More than 2,600 walkers and runners participated in the 5k and Tot Trot on Saturday, March 15, 2014. They raised more than $65,000 from the race that will go to the Center for Active Seniors to support the organization’s services in the community.

“This is our largest fundraiser so it’s a really important event for us,” said CASI Board Chair Gwen Tombergs. “I think it obviously kicks off the weekend because from here everybody will go to the parade and keep going and partying during the day.”

The 5k winner, Devin Allbaugh from Minnesota said as a Bettendorf-native, he likes to come back to his old stomping grounds and join in events and see old friends.

“I was here last year and I ran the race and I ran it this year because it was just so awesome,” he said. “It’s just a good atmosphere so yeah, I’ll definitely be back.”

A tent was set up offering music, food, and beer to start the party after racers completed the course.

After the race finished up Saturday morning, the Grand Parade started up in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Click here to see photos from the parade!
