Three face charges in western Iowa double homicide

Police say two Iowa residents were killed in what authorities are calling a double homicide in western Iowa.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, 80-year-old Marvin Huesling, and who is presumed to be 81-year-old Alice Huisenga, were killed on Monday, March 10, 2014. The State Medical Examiner said Mr. Huesling died from multiple gunshot wounds. It was ruled that the presumed, pending DNA confirmation, Ms. Huisenga’s death was a result of “homicidal violence.”

KCCI reported that the two were found dead inside a burning Deloit, Iowa home Monday.

A spokesperson from the police department said on Thursday, March 13 three Denison residents were taken into custody in connection with the double homicide. Authorities arrested 26-year-old Michael D. Schenk, 19-year-old Jayden R. Chapman, and 36-year-old Erika M. Haberberger-Dains. Each has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of first degree arson.

All three were held in the Crawford County Jail.
