A Henry County woman's home was surround by water when ice jams apparently caused flooding along the Green River.

Neighbors said the woman's home, on Green River Road just east of Colona, was flooded before 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014.  Water broke through a levee near Parkway Road.

Neighbors said they hoped the woman who lives in the house surrounded by water had already evacuated.  One neighbor, Scott Morris, said he thought the woman had already left the house.

"She's a wonderful lady," Morris said. "She doesn't deserve this, but when you live on the river, you have to expect it."

The flooding has occurred because of ice jams happening in the Green River. Ice blocks the water that is upstream and starts to cause flooding.

The Green River in Geneseo was at 12.91 feet on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. That is still more than a foot below flood stage. The Rock River was forecast to face elevated flood risk later this spring.
