A vehicle with a child inside was reportedly stolen from a gas station north of Boulder, Colorado, causing authorities to issue an Amber Alert and leading police on a high-speed chase.

KDVR reported that around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 police issued an Amber Alert for 4-year-old Allen Chavarria-Rodriguez, who was inside the stolen vehicle.

Police began chasing the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Ryan Stone, southbound toward Denver. After the chase, Stone was taken into custody, accused of kidnapping and carjacking.

According to the Longmont Times-Call, the child’s mother, Martha Rodriguez said she went into the gas station for a cup of coffee, and happened to see Stone inside. When she went back to her vehicle, the vehicle and her son inside were gone.

KDVR reported that the child was reunited with his family late Wednesday morning. His mother will not face charges for leaving her son in the running vehicle.

“His mother will not face charges for leaving her son in the running vehicle.”

Why not? Parents need to be punished for just leaving their child in a running vehicle alone while they go and do whatever. This dumb woman is lucky he didn’t kill the kid.
