Rock Island Rotary Club Gives $3,000 to Washington, IL Relief Efforts

The Rock Island Rotary Club will give $3,000 to help Washington, Illinois recover from a devastating November tornado.

The Rock Island Rotary Club will give $3,000 to the Washington, IL Rotary Club on Tuesday, March 11th, 2014.

On Wednesday, March 5th, 2014, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced a $45 million state relief package for Washington, IL and other Illinois communities after the November 17th tornadoes. Governor Quinn's announcement came in response to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) denying the Illinois appeal for public assistance.

That is part of the reason Tuesday's announcement is so important to the Washington, IL Rotary Club, according to Rock Island members. They say that the Washington, IL Rotary Club needs as much help as it can get right now.

The $3,000 donation will go toward rebuilding efforts in the city, but there is no word whether that will go to individuals or businesses. Tuesday's donation comes at 11:45 a.m. at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island.
