More than 2,400 MidAmerican Energy customers lost electricity Monday afternoon, March 10, 2014.

The utility reported 2,416 customers were without power at the height of the outage.  Their online outage reporting system showed the outages involved customers in two locations in Davenport.

An equipment failure caused the unplanned outage, which affected customers just north and east of downtown Davenport according to MidAmerican spokesperson Tina Potthoff.  The outage began just after 3 p.m.

Shortly before the outages were reported, police received information that traffic lights were out at the intersection of Brady and Locust in Davenport.  It was not clear if that was part of one of the outage areas.

All but five of the affected customers had service restored by 4:30 p.m. according to MidAmerican’s online outage tracker.
