An Iowa man reportedly wanted to put his wife in the hospital and asked his 17-year-old daughter to help.

KCRG reported that 55-year-old Michael C. Schoonover from Dubuque asked his teenage daughter to get harmful pills for him so he could secretly put them in a drink for his wife.

Court documents showed that Schoonover’s daughter told her older sister about her father’s request and that the two decided to give him “water pills” that were prescribed to the older sister. When the teen brought the pills to her father she recorded the conversation and gave the recording to police.

Schoonover was taken into custody Tuesday, March 4, 2014 and charged with solicitation to commit a felony.
