Annual sports auction raises over $1 million

The annual Chuck Long Sports Auction was held to benefit the Children’s Therapy Center, and this year they had a goal to “go for a million.”

The annual Chuck Long Sports Auction was held to benefit the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities, and this year they had a goal to “go for a million.”

The auction was held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island. According to the event’s Facebook page, over the last 16 years, the event raised $903,000.

After the 17th annual auction, News 8's Matt Randazzo, who emceed the event,  said the event set a record with more than $93,000 raised and collectively (over the last 17 years of fundraising) passed the $1 million goal.

A live auction was held along with a silent auction full of autographed sports gear and jerseys.

The next fundraising event set for the therapy center is the Clinton Run on March 23, followed by the WQAD Telethon in April.
