A Jackson County man has been charged with attempted murder after a domestic dispute in December.
A spokesperson from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said that on December 21, 2013 Robert Michael McClain, 44, during a domestic situation, shot his wife in the leg with a shotgun. She also had also suffered a wound in the back from a knife.
Police said upon arrival they found McClain in an upstairs bedroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the facial area.
Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Officials say McClain has been charged with attempted murder, willful injury, and possession of a weapon by a felon.
McClain was held at the Jackson County Detention Center in Maquoketa on $500,000 bond.
