On Saturday, March 1, 2014 area sledders gathered at the ski hill to race their homemade sleds. Sleds raced at least two per heat to see which sled was faster. The winner of each heat then went back to compete again in an elimination-style competition.

Rookie participants and veteran sled-racers all agreed that the event was a fun way to get out in the winter.

“This is really cool, I’ve never done this before,” said Rheise Detombe. His aim was to make his sled aerodynamic and to prevent his sled from getting wet by using duct-tape.

Awards were given to the champion and runner-up. The winner received the coveted "Golden Shover" award. There was also a category for Best in Show.
