A Cedar Rapids man has been charged in connection with lunch-hour thefts at local businesses in Moline.

Arthur Barbine, 53, was arrested last night on Tuesday, February 25th.

Moline Police say they launched an investigation after office workers and store clerks reported their wallets, credit cards and cell phones had mysteriously turned up missing on the job.

It happened while co-workers at An Med medical billing in Moline were in their break room eating lunch Wednesday. February 19, 2014.

Similar thefts at Famous Footwear shoe store, another office building and a residence - all in Moline - are believed to be connected.

"He is very bold, and doesn't care. I was very upset because the guy takes advantage of these women who work for a living. Why can't he get a job like the rest of us?" An Med office manager Carol Myers said.

Police say they have surveillance video of Barbine at a local Walmart using one of the stolen cards.

He's charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of unlawful use of an account number to defraud and felony theft.

Police say he's a suspect in similar cases in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. He's being held in the Rock Island County Jail on $200,000 bond.
