Entrepreneurs in the Quad Cities will have a chance to go head-to-head and compete for thousands of dollars to make their business dreams come true.

Called “Quad Cities Fast Pitch,” the competition will be set up like a local version of ABC’s hit show “Shark Tank,” as business owners-to-be try to sell the pros on their concept.

“I think a lot of time, half the problem [for] people with a business idea is they don’t know how to get started,” Tory Brecht, Business Development Manager for the City of Davenport, told News 8, “so we’re really hoping that this really gives them a boost.”

One grand prize winner will walk away with $5,000 and several business deals, while three runners-up will each get $1,000.

Economic development departments from the cities of Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline and Rock Island, along with groups like the Iowa and Illinois Small Business Development Centers, WQAD-TV and the Riverboat Development Authority have joined together to host the competition.

The first application deadline is March 15. For information on how to do so, head to QuadCitiesFastPitch.com.
