Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds say they submitted petition signatures to become candidates for re-election.

A spokesperson for the Branstad-Reynolds campaign said they submitted 10,745 signatures to the Secretary of State, and the submission officially places Branstad’s name on the ballot for the June 3, 2014 Primary Election in Iowa.

The state requires candidates for U.S. Senator and for Governor in Iowa to collect signatures in at least 10 counties.  The minimum number of signatures collected in each of those counties must equal one-percent of the votes cast for president in that county in the 2012 General Election.

The campaign spokesman said Branstad-Reynolds surpassed the signature requirements in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
