Snowboarders in the Quad Cities are getting a "Shreducation" this weekend.

On Saturday, February 22nd, 2014, Iowa State University and Illinois State University teamed up to put on "Shreducation Rail Jam" at Ski Snowstar Winter Sports Park in Andalusia, Illinois.

"It's not really a competition between the two schools," says Mike Harris, President of the Iowa State University Snowboarding Club. "It's a collaboration just to bring more people in, more sponsors, more money and just try to make the event as big as possible."

"We run it in a slope-style format, which means a full run," he adds. "You get three runs and we judge each run independently. Your highest scored run is your best run and then we place you off top scores."

The top three finishers win new gear from the event's sponsors. Participants say the competition is tough.

"There's a lot of really good riders out here today," says Noah Youngberg, a snowboard rider. "I'm just hoping to do my best."
