Thousands of Quad City residents were without power amidst some windy weather Thursday evening, February 20, 2014.

A spokesperson from MidAmerican Energy said that the outage began around 5:50 p.m. and originally 2,522 customers were without power. The outages were due to high winds in the area.

Crews around 8:30 p.m. were working to fix two pieces of broken equipment.

By 10 p.m. most power had been restored, according to MidAmerican Energy’s outage map. Nearly 2,000 customers were without power in LeClaire earlier in the evening and about 500 residents had been without in Scott County.

Still at about 10:15 p.m. a little more than 60 residents were without power in Rock Island County.

Further west in Iowa City, more than 250 energy customers had been without power, but it was restored.
