Davenport remembers Sgt. Kevin Marxen

In honor of a Davenport Sergeant who passed away, the community will be holding a walk in his memory.

On Friday, February 21, 2014 family and friends will gather at Modern Woodmen Park to hold a candle walk on the Centennial Bridge. The walk will begin at 6p.m.

Sgt. Kevin Marxen, known to his fellow officers as “Rudy,” was the 2nd Shift Patrol Supervisor and a 36-year veteran of the Davenport Police Department.

Previous reports indicate that on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, his day off, Marxen was finishing up his regular bridge run, when he collapsed from an apparent heart attack on the Iowa bound Centennial Bridge walkway. Marxen was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

Marxen’s visitation was scheduled for Sunday, February 23 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. The funeral mass was scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, February 24 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport.
