Some Hot Pockets recalled

Nestle is recalling some Hot Pockets products after discovering they were made with meat the USDA says is unfit for human consumption.

Rancho Feeding Corporation, a beef wholesaler, recalled more than 8.7 million pounds of meat because it processed “diseased and unsound animals” in a facility that had not been fully inspected by federal authorities, according to the USDA.

This previously-announced recall involved veal and less-common cuts of beef.  The affected beef products were shipped to distribution centers and retailers in Illinois, California, Florida, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

The USDA Food Safety Inspection Service has not received any reports of illness in connection with the recall, but classified the recall as “Class 1,” indicating “there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

Nestlé recalled some Hot Pockets products after discovering some of the meat involved in the Rancho Feeding recall was used at a California facility that makes Hot Pockets.
