Police said a bicyclist was hurt when he was reportedly hit by a vehicle in sterling.
Around 6 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, police said that 56-year-old David Vargas was riding his bike headed south on 6th Avenue when a vehicle hit him from behind.
Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office said the driver, 24-year-old Adam Armstrong, was arrested for driving while his license was suspended and on a Whiteside County Warrant for failure to appear and pay on a DUI charge.
Vargas was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Armstrong was taken to the Whiteside County Jail.
