Bus driver ticketed for Davenport crash

The driver of a city bus has been ticketed after the bus crashed into a home in Davenport.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon, February 13, 2014 just before 4 p.m.  Police said the bus collided with a Ford Fusion at the intersection of East Locust Street and Grand Avenue.  The bus left the roadway and struck the house at 1825 Grand Avenue.

No one was in the house at the time of the crash.  There were nine people on the bus, and one of them was reportedly taken by ambulance to an area hospital.  Two people from the car were also hospitalized for treatment of their injuries.

Police said Tuesday, February 18, that the bus driver was cited in connection with the wreck.  Rose Torres, 49, was cited for failure to yield left turn and for no seatbelt.
