Snowiest Q.C. winter on record

The Quad Cities is in the midst of the snowiest winter on record. Since December 1 the area has seen over 53 inches of snow.

The Quad Cities is in the midst of the snowiest winter it has seen in over 30 years.

According to StormTrack 8 Meteorologist Terry Swails, on Monday, February 17 the record of the snowiest Meteorological winter was broken in the Q.C.

The snow that fell on Monday totaled 5.9 inches, according to the NWS Quad Cities. StormTrack 8 confirmed that this snow has made for the snowiest Meteorological winter, which runs from December 1 – February 28, since 1978-1979.

During the 2013-2014 Meteorological winter in the Quad Cities, residents have so far seen 53.3 inches of snow. Closely following, the Meteorological winter of 1978-1979 brought 52.9 inches of snow.
