One woman suffered a serious head injury and one walked away with no injuries after their snowmobile crashed in Calhoun County, Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reported 38-year-old Jill George, of Clare, Iowa, was operating a snowmobile on North Twin Lake when she hit a snow drift and crashed at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014.

George was ejected from the snowmobile, and reportedly suffered a serious head injury.  She was reportedly taken by ambulance to a hospital in Fort Dodge and later airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines.

Her passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Fort Dodge, was reportedly not hurt.

DNR officials said neither woman was wearing a helmet at that time of the crash, and that the snowmobile they were riding was rated for one occupant.
